Hover Crash

Hover Crash is the 3rd Game Project I made during my time as a Game Artist with a group from Forsbergs skola for making a game in 3 months in Unity for SGA with Artists and Designers.

Hover Crash is a 3D racing game for up to two players, where you have to race to the end by either getting first place or destroying the other player's hover vehicle. Depending on which vehicle you pick, you will have different first and secondary weapons to use when driving on the tracks!

My main roles for this project as one of the Artists was known as one of the Concept Artists, 3D Artists & VFX Artists.

As a 2D Concept Artist I was the one who had to come up with the combinations of the first and secondary weapons each hover vehicle was going to use both in offensive, defensive or speed. One Vehicle might be able to shoot rockets and use a speed boost while another one could use a Shield and launch bombs ahead of Itself. - There were many different types of Ideas and designs based on just making the weapons for each one of the six vehicles we made.

Most of our references for the artstyle were based on the style used in the movie known as Red Line. However! We later changed our Idea into something of the lines of cyberpunk with neon colors for the environment with cell shading on the models.

2D Concept Artist

3D Artist.

As a 3D artist I mainly worked on creating one of the vehicles by doing the modeling, UV mapping & weight paint in Maya Pro for that specific vehicle.

Previously we had plans to add the weapons we were going to use onto the vehicles themselves, similar to Item boxes from mario kart. But we scrapped that Idea, since we decided to go with only using two weapons per vehicle.

VFX Artist.

Lastly but not the least, I work most of the time with creating VFX for the first time ever. Making particle effects such as smokes whenever you shoot rockets, fireworks in the background and power ups like shields or healing effects for the different powers we were going to use.

Some other effects I also created were lines for the vehicles that go behind them and explosive effects in different colors based on the weapons used.
