During my time at the Futuregames online course for learning Gamemaker Studios 2. For my 1st Project which started around September 2021, I decided to make my first Prototype game known as Redd’s Prototype Adventure!

What is this prototype game about?
So for my first game prototype project, I wanted to make a game based on one of my earlier game mockups that I created in 2019 known as Redd’s Adventure. However for this project I also had to do Art, Design and Programming for X amount of weeks for making this project. So I decided to update my Mockup I had and make It better for this project!
The game Idea was that, you will be playing as Redd who is a Treasure Hunter. And your goal is to get to the exit which is at the start of the level. However, you don’t have the key which is somewhere in this level that you have to explore to find It.
And of course, along the way your goal is to also collect as many treasures and defeat your enemies that are in the way of your path!
I was inspired by the game known as Wario Land 4, where you have to find a key and a switch that triggers the timer that opens the exit door again for you. So I wanted to make something similar to that game.
Who is Redd?
So as mentioned before, Redd is my Treasure Hunter OC who I created in 2019 for his own Game Mockup known as Redd’s Adventure. For this project I wanted to change how Redd is played, since in the mockup I designed Redd to be a pirate who uses a sword as his main weapon.
So for this game Redd will now use a gun as a Treasure Hunter exploring temples and unknown islands for treasures. For his moves I wanted Redd to be able to move, jump and shoot as well as taking damage and die. But within the time limit I wasn’t able to figure out how to add the damage system in this project which is why there is no health bar in this game.
Other Ideas I had for Redd in this game was to have Power Ups for him. Similar to Wario Land where you could get these “states” that made you into something else for a puzzle or an obstacle in the level. Some ideas were to make Redd smaller in size or turned into a robot or a dragon. But none of these Ideas got implemented in the final version of this prototype.
Enemies.
As for some of the Enemies I added into this game, I only added two types of enemies. 2 more as a reskin version of one, adding up to 4 types of enemies in Redd’s Prototype Adventure.
The first one is known as Slime Shell. It’s a Slime who has a Shell on top of Itself. It is able to walk on the ground similar to a goomba from mario, except you can’t jump on them.
The second enemy is known as Temple Dragon. These ones are much slower but more tankier.
There were plans to add more enemies, but since I wasn’t able to implement the animations in time, I worked more on making sure the enemies I have did what I wanted them to do in the game.
